Serving in JourneyLand

JourneyLand is designed to teach kids about Jesus on their level in a safe, fun environment. Each week infants all the way through 5th grade kids are taught the Bible in a creative, age-appropriate way while building relationships with adult volunteers and other kids. It takes a large team of awesome, dedicated volunteers to serve Journey's kids in our three services each week.

If you're interested in serving on the JourneyLand team, we'd love to hear from you! Below are the steps you will need to take to begin serving on the team, as well as some frequently asked questions that can help you learn more about the team, some requirements, and the role you can play.

FAQs

How old do I have to be to serve in JourneyLand?
Volunteers serving in JourneyLand must have at least completed the 1st semester of their 6th grade year to start serving.

What are the ages of the kids I will be working with?
JourneyLand is split into two different groups: Downtown (infants - kindergarteners) and Uptown (1st - 5th graders). In each group there are also small groups separated by grade/class. Your interests and the needs of JourneyLand are the key factors in determining which group you'll be working with.

Do I need to be a Journey partner to serve in JourneyLand?
Moving forward, all Journey volunteer teams will require that you are either a partner or willing to go through the partnership process in order to serve on the team.
*This does not apply to middle and high school students. Your only requirement is that you are a regular attender at Journey (Sunday services or in JSM).

Will I have to teach a class or lead a group?
Not necessarily. There are a lot of ways to participate that don't involve being in a classroom or leading a group, including our worship and production team, check-in team, set-up team, creative team, and more. Our staff will work with you to find the place you feel comfortable serving.

How often will I need to be involved?
That's up to you and is determined by your individual needs as well as the role you accept. Some roles need to be filled by people that participate in JourneyLand each week while other roles are open to those that serve once or twice a month.

Will I have to serve all three services if I join the team?
Definitely not! We will work with you on a schedule that works best for you and still serves the needs of our team. We want all of our volunteers to "soak and serve" because sitting in service is just as important as serving in terms of your spiritual walk with Christ.
