Next Steps

In JourneyLand, we believe every kid has a Next Step. A Next Step is anything that brings you or someone else closer to Jesus. These look different for everyone yet are all designed to help you know Jesus better, grow in your faith, and go out into the world to share the Gospel.

KIDs BAPTISM PROCESS

JourneyLand partners with families of children that have a desire to learn more about baptism. In order to honor the significance and meaning of baptism, we have prepared the following steps to help you walk your child through the process and answer any questions you may have along the way.
  1. Choose class option:  We currently offer parents "In-Person" and "At-Home" options. Our "In-Person" class features an age appropriate presentation intended for your child and at least one parent. The "At-Home" option allows you to use the materials from our class in your own home with your child. Both options will help guide your family discussions on whether or not this is the right time for your child.
  2. Register:  Our next class date is March 7th, 2021 on the JCC Evans Campus or Pick up an "At Home" packet by visiting the Kids Check-In desk.
  3. Complete:  Finish the follow-up material from class, and use it as a tool to lead family discussions.
  4. Meet:  If your child is ready to be baptized, you will both meet with a JourneyLand leader. This is an opportunity to talk through your child’s salvation decision and discuss why they want to be baptized.
  5. Schedule:  The next step is working with the staff to register for a baptism date.
  6. Baptize:  This is the big day!  Invite family, friends, and small group leaders to celebrate this amazing event!
  7. Next Steps:  Help your child identify their “Next Step” as they grow in their relationship to Jesus. JourneyLand offers age appropriate Small Groups and partners with parents to identify service opportunities.

Registration is required because space is limited. For more information email bryonshaw@journeycommunity.net.

Registration for our next Access Group will be announced soon.

What is S.o.A.P.?

S.O.A.P. stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. Using this method will help you understand what the Bible means for your life.

How does it work?

It's easy! Start by finding a place you will feel comfortable doing your daily quiet time and read the Bible as you normally would. If you're new to this and haven't really done a quiet time or read your Bible before, don't stress about where to do it. Any place you can get a few minutes of privacy will be fine. Whether you are using a reading plan that outlines specific verses or you are reading on your own, the method stays the same!

Picture
Write out the verse or verses that impacted or interested you in your reading.
Picture
What did you observe or see about the Scripture that made it important to you? This can be a short or long answer.
Picture
How can you apply what you saw in these verses? There can be more than one way to apply it! Make a list of how it all applies to you.
Picture
Write out a prayer to God related to what you just observed and ask Him to guide you in applying this truth in your life.

PREREQUISITE LEGACY CLASS
March 28, 2021

Dedication Ceremony
April 24, 2021

Congratulations on the newest addition to your family! As you take your next steps in the adventure known as parenthood, we want to partner with you in a God-honoring manner.

You are invited to attend our Legacy Class as we share our vision for engaging kids and families in the process of knowing Jesus. As intimidating as it might seem, you will have more influence in your child’s life than anyone else. The good news is that you are not alone. We are committed to encouraging and helping to equip you for the journey ahead. The Legacy Class will help explain what that partnership should look like. You will also receive practical information about our children’s ministry, JourneyLand.

After completing the Legacy Class, your family is invited to participate in the Dedication Ceremony. This is a special time created for you to announce, and the church to support and celebrate, the dedication of your child to God’s word and teaching. This is not an infant baptism. We believe baptism is a step taken in obedience to God when a child or adult accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

Please invite your family, friends, loved ones, and J-group to celebrate this special event with you. Our hope is that you will find yourself surrounded by people partnering with you in prayer, support, and encouragement as you raise your child. The ceremony will include other families that are making the same commitment and will include opportunities for photos, light refreshments, and time for fellowship.
