Lights at Christmastime are a pretty big deal. We put lights on trees, bushes, houses, figurines – everywhere! The more the merrier! Lights at Christmas are more than just decoration, though. Lights remind us of the light that Jesus gives. Many, many years ago, a brilliant star proclaimed Christ’s birth. It was a light that shown brightly telling the world that Jesus had come to give hope and life to all. Jesus brought the light and love of God to this earth for you, for me, for everyone! As followers of Jesus, His light lives within us. Jesus said that those who follow Him are the light of the world. Did you hear that? YOU are the light of the world! Being the light of the world means that we carry Jesus with us – into our homes, our neighborhoods, our schools – everywhere we go! Through our time together, we’ll learn that the light of Jesus lives in us, makes fear and darkness run, keeps giving us life, and brings comfort and warmth to all.
